FINDING MY NICHE
I am a biology teacher at Northeast High School in East Baton Rouge Parish. I graduated from the Secondary Holmes Masters and alternate certification Program at Louisiana State University in May 2015. I earned a Bachelor's of Science in Natural Resource Ecology & Management, and a minor in Biology from LSU in 2014. My areas of interest include secondary science education, wildlife education, technology integration, and curriculum design.
My passion for wildlife and their habitats began in elementary school and drove my decision to attend LSU. While in school, I was a regular volunteer at the Baton Rouge Zoo and an intern at Barn Hill Preserve and Education Center. I developed an interest in education through Honors course work and the GeauxTeach program at LSU, and through volunteering with the Education Department at BREC's Baton Rouge Zoo. My goal is to develop effective and engaging science lessons that will ultimately teach environmental stewardship to high school students and expose them to the wealth of opportunities that STEM fields have to offer.
